What kind of dent do you have?

How do we decide between repair, replacement and leaving it?
We start with three questions. Is the paint broken? Is the metal stretched? Is the damaged part bolted on, or welded to the body? A bolted-on part with a deep crease, like a fender, can cost less to replace than to rebuild. A welded panel usually has to be repaired in place, and heavy work there is quarter panel territory that often goes to a collision shop.
Leaving a dent alone is a real option. If the paint is intact and nothing binds, the dent is cosmetic. If the paint is chipped, we treat the bare metal so it does not rust while you decide. That is one of the few items we flag as sooner rather than later.

Step 4: Check the finish
The repaired area is checked for shape and fit and for moisture sealing at chips.

What drives the cost of dent removal?
The method sets the price: pulling and finishing, replacing a bolt-on part, or adding a paint step. Paint steps take the most time. Your written estimate shows every step so you know the whole plan before approving it. Clean dings with sound paint may qualify for paintless dent repair instead, which usually costs less.
What to do after dent work
If fresh finish was applied, wait on waxing and pressure washing until the finish has cured, as noted on your invoice. Check any sealed chip in a few weeks for rust spots. Chips around the repair are covered on our paint scratch repair page.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't my dent be done without paint?
When paint is cracked or the metal is creased sharply, pushing the dent can crack more paint or leave a visible ripple. Those dents usually need pulling, filling and paint, or a replacement part.
Is it cheaper to replace a dented fender?
Sometimes. A bolt-on fender with a deep crease can be cheaper to replace than to repair, but a new fender usually needs paint. We compare both on the estimate.
Will a chipped dent rust?
