The simplest route is also the most scenic one: get on Foothill Blvd and drive west. It is Historic Route 66, and it carries you from Rancho Cucamonga straight through Upland to our door near Central Ave. No turns, no merges, just traffic lights. Base Line Rd is a parallel option if it is backed up.

From the north side of Rancho, near Etiwanda or Alta Loma, the 210 west is often faster. Take the Mountain Ave exit in Upland, go south to Foothill Blvd, then turn right and head west a short distance. If you are coming from the south end of the city near the I-10, you can take the 10 west and exit at Central Ave instead. Our directions page has the details.

Rancho Cucamonga sits on a slope that rises toward the San Gabriel Mountains. Neighborhoods in Alta Loma and Etiwanda climb steadily, so cars work uphill every trip home and brake downhill every trip out. That is hard on cooling systems in summer and on brake pads year-round.

The city is also a commuter base. Plenty of residents take the 210 west toward Los Angeles County or the I-15 north through the Cajon Pass toward the High Desert. The long pull up the pass on a hot day is a real test for a radiator, a transmission and a set of tires. Towing a boat or camper makes it harder still.

Wind is the other factor. When the Santa Ana winds come through, dust and debris land on everything. Air filters load up, cabin filters clog, and grit finds its way into brake parts.

There are plenty of places to pull off along the way. If the temperature needle starts climbing, get into a parking lot, shut the engine off and let it sit.
