The Free Towing Inspection is a hookup check done at pickup. We confirm the coupler and ball size match, the pin is in place, the safety chains are crossed, the lights work, and the tongue weight and hitch rating fit U-Haul requirements. It costs nothing, and it is about the connection between the equipment and your vehicle.

A tow vehicle inspection looks at your car or truck as a machine: brake pads and fluid, tire condition and pressure, coolant and hoses, transmission fluid and leaks. It is a paid inspection. The diagnostic fee is stated at the counter first, and any repair comes with a written estimate.

Start with your owner's manual, which lists the tow rating and any requirements for a hitch or cooling.
