Route 66 Auto Repair is one shop in Upland, at 1775 W Foothill Blvd on Historic Route 66, and drivers come to us from 25 nearby cities in the Inland Empire and the eastern San Gabriel Valley. We sit between the I-10 and the 210, so most trips are a short drive. ASE-certified technicians, a written estimate before any work, and tow-ins accepted when your car cannot make it on its own.
Where is Route 66 Auto Repair, and why do people drive in from other cities?
There is one Route 66 Auto Repair, and it is in Upland. We do not have a branch in Ontario, Pomona or anywhere else. The building sits on Historic Route 66, at Foothill Blvd and Central Ave, one block east of In-N-Out Burger. If you know that In-N-Out, you already know roughly where we are.
A lot of drivers first find us after a bad experience somewhere else: a vague phone quote, a bill that doubled, a repair nobody could explain. We answer that with process instead of promises. You see photos of failed parts when the part is the point. If the job grows, we stop and ask again. Declined items stay on the repair order so nothing is hidden later.
Which 25 cities does Route 66 Auto Repair serve?
Each city below has its own page with the usual route in, the driving conditions people there deal with, and the repairs we see most from that area. For the full table with the freeway most drivers use, see the areas we serve overview.
- Upland, our home city, where the shop sits
- Ontario, Guasti and Montclair, a short drive up Central Ave or off the I-10
- Rancho Cucamonga and Fontana, west along Foothill Blvd or the 210
- Claremont, La Verne, San Dimas and Glendora, east along Route 66 or the 210
- Azusa and Duarte, farther east on the 210
- Pomona, Covina, West Covina and La Puente, via the I-10
- Walnut, Diamond Bar and Rowland Heights, usually by way of the 57 and the 60
- Chino and Chino Hills, up Central Ave or the 71
- Mira Loma, Eastvale, Norco and Corona, north on the 15 to the 10
How do you get to the shop from the 10, the 210, the 57 or the 15?
From the I-10, take the Central Ave exit and head north. Central runs straight up to our corner in Upland, and the shop is right there. This is the route for most people coming from Ontario, Montclair, Pomona and the San Gabriel Valley cities to the west.
From the 210, most drivers use the Mountain Ave exit in Upland, go south to Foothill Blvd, then turn west toward Central Ave. Drivers coming east from Claremont or La Verne often skip the freeway and stay on Historic Route 66 the whole way, since it runs right through those cities and into Upland.
From the 57, drivers from Diamond Bar and Walnut usually connect to the 10 east and follow the Central Ave route above. From the 15, drivers from Corona, Norco, Eastvale and Mira Loma head north to the 10, go west, and exit at Central. If you are already on Foothill Blvd anywhere between Fontana and Glendora, stay on it. Historic Route 66 brings you to our door. Step-by-step notes live on our directions page.
Can you wait, drop off, or leave the car after hours?
You pick wait or drop-off at intake, and the service writer tells you honestly which one makes sense. Short jobs like an oil service or a battery test often suit waiting. Anything that needs a diagnosis, parts delivery or a long road test usually works better as a drop-off. Coming from another city, that choice matters more, so ask when you call.
If your workday does not line up with our hours, use the after-hours key drop. Leave the car in the lot, drop the key with a note listing your name, phone number and what the car is doing. The counter calls you after the technician has looked at it, and nothing is repaired until you approve a written estimate.
Same-day work happens when the board allows. The board is our schedule, and we only promise what it can hold. Please call before you drive over, especially from a city 20 or 30 minutes out, so you do not arrive to a full bay. If a promised time is going to slip, we text you.
What if your car cannot make the drive?
We accept tow-ins from every city on this list. Call (909) 646-4111 first so we know the car is coming, what it is doing, and whether it will arrive during business hours or after them. Have the tow driver leave the key in the drop box if we are closed.
Common reasons for a tow-in: the temperature gauge climbed on a grade and the engine shut off, the car clicks but will not crank, a loud grinding from a wheel, or a transmission that suddenly will not go into gear. Do not keep driving an overheating engine to save a tow. That choice can turn a hose or thermostat job into a much bigger one. Our cooling, heating and AC services page explains what we check when a car comes in hot.
What does driving around Upland do to a car?
The same few conditions show up across most of the cities we serve. They explain a lot of what we repair.
- Summer heat in the Inland Empire pushes cooling systems, batteries and AC compressors hard, often in the same week.
- Grades like the Cajon Pass on the 15 and the climbs on the 57 load up transmissions and brakes, especially with a trailer behind.
- Stop-and-go traffic in Upland and freeway crawls on the 10 and 210 wear brake pads and cook transmission fluid.
- Short trips of a few miles never let oil fully warm up, which matters for engines that rarely see the freeway.
- Dust and wind off the foothills clog cabin and engine air filters faster than the owner's manual expects.
- Long commutes rack up miles quickly, so maintenance intervals come due sooner than drivers think.
How does a visit work when you come from another city?
Step 1: Call ahead
Tell the counter what the car is doing and where you are coming from. We check the board and give a realistic time to arrive.
Step 2: Intake
A service writer listens, notes the symptom in your words, and decides wait or drop-off with you. The diagnostic fee is stated before testing.
Step 3: Diagnosis
An ASE-certified technician tests the system. If two technicians are needed on one job, we explain that before the clock starts.
Step 4: Written estimate
You get a written estimate with each line marked need-now or can-be-scheduled. Photos of failed parts are included when the part is the point.
Step 5: Repair and check
We repair to spec, run a quality check and road-test the car. If the job grows, we stop and ask again.
Step 6: Pickup
We go over the invoice, show old parts if you want to see them, and note the warranty coverage in writing.

What kind of work do drivers from nearby cities bring in?
Almost everything a daily driver needs. Brake services are a steady part of the week because of all the stop-and-go. Cooling systems and AC come in waves every summer. Check engine lights, batteries, charging systems and starters make up a big share of no-start and warning-light visits. We also handle oil service, tires (we sell, mount and balance new tires), suspension, exhaust, transmissions, diesel engines and light body and glass work.
Wheel alignment is the one thing we do not do in-house. We inspect tire wear and suspension, arrange the alignment, and road-test the result. Hybrids are welcome: tell us it is a hybrid at intake and we will explain what we can take on. Browse the full list under auto repair services.
Buying a used car from a private seller in a nearby city? Our deluxe pre-purchase vehicle inspection covers a printed checklist, underbody photos, a full-module scan, a road test, a second sign-off and a written buy-or-walk letter. We are also a U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer, so movers from across the area pick up trucks and trailers here.
Should you drive over today or schedule it?
Need now: call
- Temperature gauge rising, steam, or a sweet coolant smell
- Grinding brakes, a soft pedal or a pull to one side when stopping
- Flashing check engine light or a car that stalls in traffic
- Slow crank or clicking in the morning before a long commute
Need later: book
- A small oil spot on the driveway that is not growing fast
- AC that is weaker than last year but still cools
- Maintenance that is due within the next few hundred miles
- Squeaks over bumps with no change in steering or braking
When are we open, and how does pricing work?
Hours are Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM. Sunday is closed. The Saturday window helps people who commute during the week, but it fills fast, so call Friday if you can.
Phone quotes are ranges until we see the car. The price depends on the vehicle, the parts it takes, and what the diagnosis finds. Once the car is inspected, the written estimate replaces the range. We take cards and cash, paid at pickup. The diagnostic fee covers real testing time, and it applies to approved related repair.

Frequently asked questions
Which cities does Route 66 Auto Repair serve?
We serve 25 cities from our single Upland shop, including Upland, Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Claremont, Montclair, La Verne, Pomona, San Dimas, Chino, Fontana, Glendora, Corona and more. Each city has its own page listing the usual route in and the jobs we see most from there.
How do I get to the shop from the 10 or the 210?
From the I-10, exit at Central Ave and drive north to Foothill Blvd. From the 210, most people take the Mountain Ave exit in Upland, head south to Foothill Blvd, then turn west toward Central Ave. The shop is one block east of In-N-Out Burger.
Do I need an appointment if I drive in from a nearby city?
An appointment is the safest plan, and at minimum please call before you drive over. Same-day work happens when the board allows. A quick call tells you whether there is room today or whether a drop-off makes more sense.
Can I leave my car and get a ride home?
You can leave the car as a drop-off, and we decide wait or drop-off together at intake. We do not run a shuttle, so plan your own ride. The after-hours key drop lets you leave the car before or after work.
Do you accept tow-ins from nearby cities?
Yes. We accept tow-ins from all of the cities we serve. Call us first so we expect the car, and have the driver leave the key in the after-hours drop if we are closed. Nothing is repaired until you approve a written estimate.
Do you have a location in my city?
No. Route 66 Auto Repair has one location, at 1775 W Foothill Blvd in Upland. Drivers from other cities come to us because the shop is close to the 10 and the 210 and easy to reach from either freeway.
Are you open on weekends?
We are open Saturday from 8 AM to 2 PM and closed on Sunday. Weekday hours are 8 AM to 5 PM. Saturday slots go quickly, so call during the week to hold a spot.
