How do I reserve a U-Haul for pickup in Upland?
All reservations are made on uhaul.com. Open our U-Haul dealer page (opens in a new tab), choose your equipment and date, and add movers' supplies or a dolly if you need them. U-Haul sends the confirmation and any changes to your phone or email.
Book early for weekends and month-end. Those dates fill first across the Inland Empire, and the unit you want may be gone by Thursday. If you are unsure between two sizes, the counter can talk it through by phone at (909) 608-7699 before you commit.
Where do I pick up my U-Haul?
Pull into our lot at 1775 W Foothill Blvd, Upland, CA 91786, at Foothill Blvd and Central Ave, one block east of In-N-Out Burger. We sit on Historic Route 66, between the I-10 and the 210, so most renters are on the freeway within minutes.
Pickups happen during open hours: Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 2 PM. We are closed Sunday. Park your own car where the counter tells you, since trucks and trailers need room to turn.
Our U-Haul pickup process
Step 1: Check in at the counter
Bring your driver's license and your reservation details. We pull up the contract and confirm the equipment and return plan.
Step 2: Walk around the unit
We look at the truck or trailer together and note any existing marks so you are not blamed for them later.
Step 3: Take checkout photos
We photograph the fuel gauge and the cargo area so the starting condition is on record.
Step 4: Run the hookup check
For trailers and dollies, a technician checks the coupler, ball, pin, chains, lights, tongue weight and hitch rating at no charge.
Step 5: Cover the controls
We show you mirrors, the loading ramp or door, and the lights before you pull out.
Step 6: Explain the return
You leave knowing where to park, where the keys go, and how the drop card works if you come back after hours.

Why do we take fuel and cleanliness photos?
Return disputes are almost always about two things: how much fuel was in the tank and how clean the box was. A photo settles both. We take them at checkout so there is a dated record of where you started.
Do the same when you return. Snap the fuel gauge with the key on, and a wide shot of the empty cargo area. Sweep out packing peanuts and dirt. If your photos match ours, there is nothing to argue about.
Can I return a U-Haul after hours?
Yes. If you finish after we close, use the after-hours drop. Park where the counter showed you, fill out the drop card, and leave the keys as instructed. Then take clear photos of the fuel gauge, the odometer and the empty cargo area before you walk away.

Should you have your own tow vehicle inspected?
The hookup check looks at the connection. It does not look at your brakes, tires, cooling system or transmission. Towing up the Cajon Pass in August is hard on all four. If your vehicle is due, book a vehicle safety inspection before moving day. It is a normal paid inspection, and the counter explains the fee before testing starts.
Heat is the usual weak spot. If your temperature gauge creeps on the 57 already, have our cooling and AC team look before you add a trailer. Soft pedal or a pulsing stop? Start with brake services. Your written estimate labels each item as need-now or need-later.

What should you bring on moving day?
Bring your license, your phone with the reservation, and the vehicle you plan to tow with if you rented a trailer. Load the tow vehicle's trunk light so the rear doesn't squat before we check it. Arrive with some time to spare on Saturday, since we close at 2 PM. If something on your car worries you, tell the counter at check-in. We will say plainly whether it can wait or needs attention before you tow.

No. It covers the hookup only. A mechanical look at your brakes, tires, cooling system and transmission is a normal paid vehicle safety inspection, and we explain the fee at the counter before any testing.
