What is a tune-up on a modern car?
Older cars needed points, timing and carburetor adjustments. Modern engines are computer controlled, so there is little to adjust. Today's tune-up means testing: reading misfire counts, checking fuel trims, inspecting spark plugs, coils and boots, and looking at air intake parts. Frequently asked questions
Will a tune-up fix my check engine light?
Only if the light is caused by a tune-up part, such as a worn plug or coil. We scan and test first so you know what the light means before replacing anything.
Why not just replace all the plugs and coils?
Sometimes that is the right call, and the estimate will say so. But replacing parts that test fine wastes money, and the real cause, such as a vacuum leak, would still be there.
Can a tune-up improve gas mileage?
If worn ignition or intake parts are hurting efficiency, fixing them can help. If mileage dropped for another reason, like tires or a sensor, testing will show that.
