Why do rearview mirrors fall off?
The mirror clips to a small metal button bonded to the glass. On a car parked in the sun, the windshield can get very hot and then cool quickly, and the bond weakens over time. Household superglue or the wrong adhesive usually fails the first hot week.

Our rearview mirror repair process
Step 1: Check the mount and glass
We look at the button, the glass behind it and any camera bracket nearby.
Step 2: Clean and prepare
Old adhesive is removed and the glass is cleaned so the new bond can grip.
Step 3: Bond the button
The button is set in the factory position with adhesive made for mirror mounts and allowed to cure.
Step 4: Mount and test
The mirror is attached, wiring is reconnected, and dimming and other features are tested.

How pricing and timing work
Reattaching a basic mirror is a small job, though the adhesive needs cure time. Replacing an auto-dimming or wired mirror costs more because of the part. Your written estimate states which applies. AAA members get 10% off parts and labor, up to $75, with the card. Most reattachments can be done while you wait when the board allows; call before you drive over.
Aftercare after a rearview mirror repair
Adjust the mirror gently for the first day while the bond finishes curing. A sunshade helps keep the windshield cooler. If it loosens again, bring it back and it goes to the front of the line. Frequently asked questions
Can I glue my rearview mirror back on myself?
You can with a proper mirror mount kit and careful prep. The usual failures come from using household glue, not cleaning off the old adhesive, or setting the button in the wrong spot. Heat then pops it off again.
My mirror fell off with a piece of glass. Now what?
That means the windshield itself was damaged at the mount. We check the glass first, because bonding to a chipped spot will not hold and the chip may spread.
Why is my auto-dimming mirror always dark?
The gel between its glass layers can leak or break down, which leaves the mirror tinted or blotchy. That usually means replacing the mirror. We confirm the wiring is good first.
