Why is the windshield more than a window?
Your windshield is laminated: two layers of glass with a plastic layer between them. It helps hold the roof shape in a rollover and gives the passenger airbag something to push against. A chip weakens the outer layer, and July heat swings make it grow. Short cracks may still qualify for windshield crack sealing.
Many newer vehicles also mount lane and braking cameras on the glass. If your windshield carries one, we tell you up front what calibration the vehicle maker calls for and how that part of the job is handled, before you approve anything.

We measure the chip or crack, check its depth, and mark where it sits relative to the driver's view.
Step 2: Give you the call
You get a written recommendation: chip repair, crack sealing, or replacement.
Step 3: Repair approved damage
For a repair, we clean the break, fill it with resin under pressure, and cure it.
Step 4: Inspect the result
We check clarity from the driver's seat and run the wipers to make sure nothing catches.

A single chip repair costs far less than new glass, which is why we check repair first. Price depends on how many breaks there are, their type, and whether replacement and calibration come into play. Nothing starts until you approve the written estimate. AAA members get 10% off parts and labor, up to $75, with the card at time of service. Most chip and short-crack repairs fit into the same visit when the board allows; call before you drive over.
Aftercare after a windshield repair
Skip the car wash and the hard defrost for the rest of the day, and replace worn wiper blades that drag over the repair. If a line starts to run from the repair, bring it back and it goes to the front of the line.
Frequently asked questions
Can a windshield chip be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, yes. A chip smaller than a coin that sits outside the driver's view and has not spread is usually a good repair candidate. We look at it and tell you straight, and the answer is in writing before we start.
Will a repaired windshield look perfect?
Not always. Resin restores strength and fades the chip, but a faint outline can remain, which is why we avoid repairs right in front of the driver.
Does my insurance cover windshield repair?
Some policies cover glass repair. We are not an insurance direct-repair shop, so check your policy first. We give you a written estimate and an itemized invoice you can submit yourself.
My car has a camera behind the mirror. What changes?
Tell us at intake. If the glass needs replacing, the camera may need calibration afterward. We explain what your vehicle requires before you approve the work, so there are no surprises.
