After-hours diagnostics at Route 66 Auto Repair in Upland means you leave your car tonight using our after-hours key drop, and a technician begins diagnosis when the shop opens. We do not have technicians working overnight. The benefit is a head start: your car is first in line in the morning instead of waiting for you to arrive.

How does after-hours drop-off work?

Park in our lot at 1775 W Foothill Blvd, lock the car and put the key in the after-hours key drop with a note. When we open, Monday to Friday at 8 AM or Saturday at 8 AM, the service writer reads your note and calls you. Nothing is tested until you hear the diagnostic fee and agree.

This works well for commuters who cannot miss work, for cars that arrive on a tow truck after hours, and for symptoms that show up on a cold start, since the car will be cold in the morning.

What should your note say?

  • Your name and the best phone number to reach you in the morning
  • Year, make and model of the vehicle
  • What it does: noise, warning light, leak, no-start, and when it happens
  • Anything recently repaired
  • Whether you have AAA, so we can apply the member discount

Our after-hours diagnostic process

  1. Step 1: Overnight drop

You leave the car and key with a detailed note.

  2. Step 2: Opening call

At opening, we call to confirm the concern and state the diagnostic fee.

  3. Step 3: Morning testing

With your approval, the technician scans, tests and road-tests as needed.

  4. Step 4: Written findings

You receive a written estimate with need-now and need-later labels.

How pricing and timing work

The diagnostic fee is stated at the opening call, and it applies to approved related repair. Early testing often means repair can start the same day when the board allows. Our check engine light diagnostics and diagnostics and inspections pages explain the tests in detail.

Aftercare

Pickup happens during open hours. If a symptom was intermittent, tell us if it returns after the repair; comebacks go to the front of the line.

Can a tow truck use the key drop?

Yes. Ask the driver to leave the key in the after-hours key drop, and call us with your name, number and what happened. See emergency auto repair for roadside steps.
