Why do outside conditions matter so much?
The same system will blow colder air on a mild morning than on a humid afternoon, because the evaporator has to pull moisture out of the air before it can cool it much. A vent temperature on its own tells you little. We read it together with the outside temperature and humidity, and compare it with the range the maker expects.
We also test in a set way: doors and windows closed, recirculate on, fan on high, engine at idle and then held at a higher speed. That makes a later test comparable to this one.

How pricing and timing work
A performance test is a short check that fits into most visits, and it pairs well with a pre-purchase vehicle inspection. It does not open the sealed system. If the result is a fail, the next step is a full AC system diagnostic, and the fee for that is stated at the counter first. Fleet customers get the unit number on each invoice so results can be tracked per vehicle.
Using your results
Keep the numbers. Next spring, a retest on a similar day shows whether cooling is slipping. Keeping the condenser clean and the cabin air filter fresh helps the numbers stay good.

Does a pass mean nothing will fail this summer?
No test can promise that. A pass means the system cooled within range on the test day. Parts can still wear, but a baseline makes it easier to spot changes early.
