A fuse box holds the fuses and relays that protect nearly every circuit in your vehicle. Heat, water and loose terminals can damage it, and a damaged box causes intermittent failures that are easy to misdiagnose. What damages a fuse box
Heat comes from resistance. A fuse terminal that has lost its grip heats up under load, which softens the plastic, which loosens the grip more. High-current circuits like cooling fans, blower motors and fuel pumps are frequent victims, especially during long, hot summers when those circuits run constantly.
Water gets in through a cracked lid, a missing seal, or pressure washing under the hood. Corrosion follows and can creep up wires. We clean what can be saved and replace terminals that cannot. How we repair a fuse box
Step 1: Inspect the box
We check every position for heat marks, corrosion and loose fits.
Step 2: Load the circuit
We run the affected circuit and measure voltage drop across the fuse and terminal.
Step 3: Find the cause
We check the load on that circuit, such as a failing fan motor drawing too much current.
Step 4: Repair the connection
With approval, we replace damaged terminals or sockets and seal the box.

How pricing and timing work
The diagnostic fee is stated at the counter before we start and applies to approved related repair. A single terminal repair is modest work. Multiple damaged positions or a failing component behind the damage add time and parts, and each appears as its own line on the written estimate. Terminal parts for some vehicles take a day or two, and we text you if timing changes.
After the repair
Avoid pressure washing the engine bay near the fuse box. If a fuse blows after the repair, do not install a bigger one. Call us, and read about electrical system fuse testing. A failing blower or fan motor may need separate work, and a starter relay socket can suffer the same heat damage.
Frequently asked questions
Can I just push the loose fuse back in?
It may work for a while, but a loose fuse heats up and the terminal usually needs replacement. If the plastic is already discolored, have it looked at soon.
Why did one fuse position melt?
Usually a worn terminal or a component drawing too much current, like an aging fan motor. We measure the current so the repair addresses both.
Is a melted fuse box a fire risk?
