Why we do not just top off brake fluid
Brake fluid drops slowly as pads wear, because the caliper pistons move out. Topping it up can hide that signal and overflow the reservoir when new pads go in. Can I top off coolant with water?
In an emergency, water can get you to a shop. It lowers boiling protection, which matters in Inland Empire heat, and it dilutes the corrosion inhibitors. We check the mix and correct it at your next visit.
Why did my coolant need topping off again?
A small drop over months can be normal. A repeat drop between visits usually means a leak or an internal loss. We record amounts each time so the pattern is clear.
Do you top off transmission fluid on sealed transmissions?
Sealed units need a specific temperature and fill procedure. We do not guess on those. If a sealed transmission is low, we quote the proper level check and look for the leak.
